A transparent, blue-purple iolite

☆Origin of the name : The name "iolite" comes from the Greek words "ios" (purple) and "lithos" (stone). The name comes from the beautiful blue-purple color of the stone.
☆Pleochroism : Iolite has strong pleochroism, which means that different colors appear depending on the viewing angle. For example, when viewed from the front, it may appear blue or purple, but when viewed from a different angle, it may appear yellow or gray. This characteristic is particularly pronounced depending on the cut of the gemstone.
☆ "Viking Compass" : Iolite is also known as the "Viking Compass". According to legend, Vikings used this stone to determine the position of the sun even on cloudy days and to decide the direction of their voyages. This is because iolite's pleochroism allows it to distinguish the polarization of the sun's light.
☆ Origin : The main production areas are India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Brazil, Tanzania, etc.
Indian iolite is especially known for its beautiful blue-purple color.
